Usually, I blog on IT related topics. However, I am looking to expand on other topics about skills I have observed in the corporate and private sector through training over 5000+ individuals over the past 20+ years.
I trained a variety of course attendees (Directors, managers, team leaders, business analysts, statisticians, marketers, bank staff, financial accountants, engineers, solicitors, judges, court staff to name a few).
I loved training, but most of all I loved engaging with individuals, especially during breaks where they often shared stories of their workplaces, and the difficulties they faced.
We spoke of strategies that were outside of the IT courses they were on and together we learnt how to overcome them. Usually the answers lay in three areas. According to Deloitte, soft skill-intensive occupations will account for two-thirds of all jobs by 2030.
So, as we head into 2020, I thought I would write a new series of blog posts that embrace this topic. I will provide my insights on which skills I think important, should be taught in schools (if not already on the curriculum), plus how to learn more about what employers need.
